Postpartum Care
What does postpartum care involve?
The postpartum period is generally a time of joy, excitement, exhaustion and questions. All of these feelings are completely normal. Your midwife will be there to help you through the first 6 weeks after meeting your baby.
Learning to care for your baby while still taking care of yourself is a special balance. You will have approximately 6 midwifery appointments within the first 6 weeks after your baby arrives. At least 3 of these visits will be at your home in the first week after birth. Midwives track both your baby’s health and your recovery to ensure everyone is physically and emotionally well. Your midwife will answer your questions and provide physical support, such as breastfeeding education and assistance.
